I made this cake for my niece Piper who just turned 6. She had a tea party birthday thing. very cute. I forget exactly how we hit upon making the cake a doll cake, but I was given pretty much free reign on what to do to it.
I went with blue because that was the least used color in the whole color scheme. the skirt of the doll and the grass part the she's standing on are all cake, the ladybugs and butterflys that are around the grass are the candles that we lit, there were 6.
because it was a tea party theme, I had the doll holding a napkin and a tea cup. overall I'm pleased with how it came out, especially since this is the first time I've made this type of cake.
I went down a bit of a memory lane with it too, because I had two cakes similar to it when I was about the same age as my niece is now, though they weren't made with a pan set like this, and used a real barbie doll instead of the "doll pick" that came in the set.
I still say its a pity the pictures don't show the glitter that was all over her dress though, for all the trouble I went to to get it to stick where I wanted it to.
